Job Description
The Associate Director of Production helps create and design the technical aspects of our weekend service environment, in addition to consulting and overseeing production for special events and campus gatherings. The Associate Director of Production helps to lead volunteers in disciplines that include sound, lights, projection, video, staging, and rigging.
PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Support and drive big picture projects like equipment philosophy and capital upgrades, including both maintenance planning and forward-thinking initiatives
- Help lead weekly processes and meetings to include detailed planning, resource management, and hands-on contribution to completing tasks and projects
- Coordinate tech needs for special events across Northshore campuses
- Helps lead aspects of production volunteer teams, including audio, lighting, projection, and live video teams
- Oversee training and support for other NCC ministries
- Assist with Production at auxiliary campuses
Rehearsals and Sunday Services (40%, 16 hrs.)
- Overseeing and developing weekend volunteer teams
- Ensuring all content and technical elements are functional and accounted for
- Ensuring all volunteers are equipped and scheduled
- Planning and preparing for bi-annual set changes
- Bring strategy and vision to all weekend planning meetings and run-throughs
Volunteer Oversight and Development (30%, 12 hrs)
- Regularly scheduled systematic training of production volunteers
- Proactively relational with volunteer teams
- Proactively recruit and train new volunteers
- Provide constructive feedback for volunteers and growth opportunities
Meetings and Development (15%, 6 hrs.)
- Participate as a leader in all Weekend Experience meetings
- Plan and prepare for all staff meetings.
Staff
- Ensure staff are equipped with technical elements to support their ministry
Student Ministry Midweek (15%, 6 hrs)
- Ensuring all content and technical elements are functional and accounted for
- Ensuring all production and broadcast volunteers are equipped and scheduled
Job Requirements
- Proficient in wiring, soldering, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of technical systems
- Able to operate digital consoles, specifically, the Yamaha Commercial Audio line
- Able to set up audio systems, which includes patching, routing, and system verification
- Experience in operating lighting systems, specifically MA Lighting and Vista systems, along with knowledge of system patching, fixture addressing, and cable routing
- Experience in operating Media Playback systems, specifically Pro Presenter and Resolume.
- Able to operate video system switching, routing, projectors, converts, signal flow, processing and verification, specifically Ross video systems
- Familiar with various audio systems, media types, and large-format digital consoles
- Strong ethical standards; ability to create trust and integrity with co-workers, volunteers, and tge community
- Good organizational skills and able to manage a variety of tasks
- Experience in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers
- Experience in managing or coordinating projects and volunteers
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Administrative, attentive to detail, and able to maintain records and produce clear reports
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
- Able to tactfully handle stressful and difficult situations
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, but also able to work independently
- Strong problem-solving skills
- The ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity
- Must be a member of Northshore or become a member in first 12 months
Education
- Formal education is not required; however, it is necessary to have at least two years’ experience working in an audio, video, and lighting environment
- Experience serving in a technical role at a church with 1000+ in weekly attendance preferred
