Who We Are

We are a church that loves Jesus and loves people. Here at Northshore, everybody’s welcome and nobody’s perfect, which means you can come as you and be loved as you are. And we want to do everything we can do to help you become all that God has created you to be. No matter your background, you are welcome here. We believe in a God full of love, grace, power, and forgiveness.

Our Mission:

To lead people into a life-changing relationship with Jesus, because Jesus can change everything for anyone.

Our Vision:

To be a church for our neighbors, the next generation, and those in need, so the Puget Sound and beyond can flourish.

“Few of us actually get to work for the church, but it’s a privilege to spend a short amount of time making a huge impact in the Sunday morning experience of others. I receive warm smiles and thank yous from those getting their coffee, along with developing sweet friendships with other volunteers.”

attended Starting Point

This fall we crafted a new Starting Point experience, making it a multi-week gathering.

“It was perfect!! I loved getting to know people at the weekly meetings, as we broke bread together. Learning who we are as a church was really impactful. I was given a wonderful meal, learned about Life Groups and ways to start serving, made new friends and got connected with helpful resources. I couldn’t be more grateful!” -Kimberly

Mops

Moms of young children are invited into our building twice a month through MOPS where they connect with other women, hear encouragement and are freely given love and support. Over 16 women have started to attend Sunday services at Northshore in 2019 through MOPS.

“I started MOPS as a lonely, clueless and struggling first-time mom with an infant. MOPS at Northshore has connected me with others and allowed me to build friendships that have carried me through my motherhood journey. I can’t and don’t want to imagine what my life would have been like without it!” –Tina

On August 25, Northshore joined with other churches in our area to go out and serve our community.

One of our partners in Spain, Papillio, works with women who have been trafficked. Because of our support, they were able to RESCUE 29 women from human trafficking this year alone.

We work alongside international partners who are committed to meeting practical needs, as well as sharing love and grace with their neighbors.

women rescued from human trafficking

Guided by Papilio, one of our partner ministries in Spain, a team from Northshore Community Church was able to help provide for the basic needs of the women trapped in human trafficking. The team distributed self-care care and hygiene kits, spent time getting to know a woman named Tina and others in similar situations, and offered to pray with them. This simple act of kindness marked the beginning of a new chapter for Tina. A relationship began to develop with our Spanish partners. Eventually, arrangements were made for Tina to escape to Madrid, in the north of the country, where she could be safe from the organized crime ring that had enslaved her and so many others. Tina was recently baptized at her church and has learned a new trade through a scholarship and is living a whole new life.

This fall, we made upgrades to the worship center and our website in order to begin live streaming our 9:30am service. Livestreaming our services allows the message of Jesus to go further than those sitting in the Worship Center to those sitting in their living rooms all over the world.

“So I came to the service last week for the first time in a while and saw the 50th celebration. Pretty fun by the way! I told myself that I would try the new live stream this weekend. I just watched the service on love thy neighbor, and think you are already knocking at my door through this social media platform. Thank you”

students attend Tuesday Night Life Groups

We have seen students reinvest in the student ministry, which we love to see because it means that those students are truly beginning to understand what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. One upper classman who is helping lead a middle school life group recently said:

“I love leading this group because I feel like I’m growing more in my faith from leading than just consuming”

BEANS & RICE

$109,000

Raised

This past Spring, we asked everyone who calls Northshore home to give up their regular meals for the week to eat beans and rice. The money that would have gone to normal meals was then given to help provide scholarships to women who have been rescued from human trafficking through our ministry partner, Papillio, in Spain. The scholarships will help provide job training, rehabilitation and a brighter future for these women.

A Letter from Scotty

Scott Scruggs

Dear Northshore Family,

What a year we have had! Not only did we continue to be a church that is together for our neighbors, the next generation and those in need, we also celebrated Northshore’s 50th anniversary as a church. It has been an honor to serve as your pastor as we bring Northshore’s legacy of generosity and serving others into the future.

50 years in, hundreds of volunteers are faithfully serving, new faces are walking through our doors every week and most importantly, lives are being changed! This annual report may seem like just a bunch of numbers and facts, but it is much more. These are the stories of individual people whose lives are remarkably different today because of an encounter with God.

These are the stories of individual people like Jeff who took the brave step of coming back to church for the first time in a while back in September, and now feels that something is stirring in his soul through our livestream. Stories of people like Caroline and her husband, who found a Life Group where they could be vulnerable while dealing with anxiety. Northshore is able to be part of those life changing encounters locally and globally because of the radical generosity of every single member of our church family.

Thank you so much for helping us keep Jesus at the center and lead people into relationship with Him. Jesus can change everything for anyone, and we are seeing that happen right before our eyes!

Thank you, Northshore. We’re glad to have you on our team!
