Kristen Story

Kristen has been a Northshore attender for a few years, but predominantly online. She’s from the Seattle area originally but left years ago for a teaching job in the Washington DC area. Each summer, she comes back to Seattle to visit friends and family—she specifically visits an older mentor and friend. This is also the same friend who introduced her to Northshore. This summer was a little different because, due to her friend’s age, she knew this might be her last one to see her. Her trip back to Seattle coincided with Northshore launching our vision for Greater Things. Kristen took this opportunity to finally come to the Kirkland campus to SEE the church she’d just been watching from afar for so long. As she came to church that day, she planned to bring her Greater Things pledge, but something came over her, and she decided to give double her original amount—in honor of her dying friend. She was teary as she shared with a staff member the poignancy of this moment where God led her to honor her friend through this donation to what God was doing here. This is such a beautiful reminder that each of us, far and wide, are only here for a fleeting moment in time, but our influence and resources can be used to bring about what God has in store for future generations. We are so grateful for people like Kristen who follow the call of God to give of their time and resources—we’re so happy she’s a part of this church, even if 3000 miles away.
