A Life Full of Brightness
Fourteen years at Sideras. Now she cares for others.
Every shift at the hospital in Indore, Reena Mandloi meets people on the worst day of their lives. She is a staff nurse, and she is good at the part of the job that cannot be taught, because she remembers what it was to be small and frightened and cared for anyway.
Reena lost both of her parents when she was young. Her grandmother did what she could, but there was not enough, and when Reena was seven or eight she arrived at Sideras Children’s Home, one of Northshore’s mission partners, unable to read or write. Sideras gave her a bed, meals, school, and a family. It also gave her morning and evening prayer, which frightened her at first. She had never seen anything like it.
Over fourteen years the fear went away and something else took its place. She began to pray on her own, asking God for strength when she felt unsafe. In May 2023 she said yes to Jesus. A year later she left Sideras, finished school, and earned her nursing degree, with support from the home and the people behind it.
She is 26 now. She will never meet most of the people who prayed for her, paid for her education, or gave to Sideras through Northshore. So she recorded a message for them. And she carries what she was given forward the only way she knows how, one patient at a time.
