27 Dec 2018 Praying for Northshore’s People of the Week
by Sharon Frampton
Years ago I prayed about getting involved with a ministry that I would be able to do alongside my work and family responsibilities at the time. Then, during our weekly prayer meeting on Wednesday evenings at Northshore, one of my friends said it would be good if we had information about the “People of the Week” we pray for, so we could pray specifically for them. (Each week, we pray for members or attendees of Northshore.) Since I was used to contacting people for work, I volunteered to make those phone calls.
It is truly amazing to me to see all the ways God has used one small offer of contacting people to turn into a ministry which was the answer to my prayer.
My job is to contact the people and then forward their prayer requests to Northshore’s office staff, so the information can be prepared for the pastors and staff prayer times. All the information is confidential and only shared with pastors, certain staff members, and our Wednesday evening prayer team.
It is pretty normal for family members to respond by saying, “This couldn’t have come at a better time” or to be very thankful. Others have said, “Funny you should ask. Just this morning a need came up. What a blessing it is to be prayed for.”
Northshore is now including Scripture to pray through for the six People of the Week listed in Enews. We encourage you to join in and pray with us in this way. You might find this to be a nice focus at the beginning of the day.
Here’s a sample of what you could pray: “Heavenly Father, as I pray for the Smith family, I ask that You bless them and keep them; make Your face shine upon them and be gracious to them; lift up Your countenance upon them and give them peace.”
Our prayer team considers it a great privilege to pray for these families and individuals. You are welcome to join us!
