Job Description

The Pastor of Groups & Care is responsible for communicating vision and inspiring participation of staff and congregation in the areas of life groups and care. The Pastor of Groups & Care will also design and implement an online group strategy that creates community and forwards discipleship within all ministries of Northshore. Life Groups

  • Continue vision casting and development of existing groups system with multi-site ministry in mind for the future
  • Partner with Director of Ministry to define core values/expectations for groups, including leaders and coaches
  • Recruit, equip and support group leaders (e.g. coaching model, training events, spiritual formation tools)
  • Create a thriving system of online groups in partnership with Northshore Online
  • Work in partnership with the Group Life Content Developer to curate resources/curriculum for groups and leadership development
  • Partner with Starting Point Coordinator to ensure a smooth hand-off of new attendees assimilating into groups
  • Partner with Pastor of Next Gen to integrate in-person and online group strategy (leader development and coaching model) into kids and students
  • Oversee the development and implementation of best-practices metrics, goals, milestones and dashboards, as well as group database systems

Congregational Care

  • Supervise the Compassion Fund Coordinator to ensure funds are used in accordance with our Compassion Fund policies
  • Oversee the Pastor-On-Call rotation and onboard new pastoral staff to this team
  • Coordinate pastoral duties related to hospital visitation, memorials, weddings, and pre-marital counseling volunteer teams


  • Work with Teaching Pastor to develop your teaching gifts
  • Develop teaching skills by being in the rotation for Stating Point, Student Ministry, Kids Ministry and other platforms where opportunities arise

Job Requirements

  • Lead and serve in a spirit of cooperation and collaboration with the entire leadership of Northshore (Overseers, Staff, Core Lay Leaders, etc.)
  • Leading, training, and scheduling of volunteers
  • Participate as a member of the Ministry Team
  • Participate as a leader in all Northshore staff meetings and events
  • Participate as a leader in major Northshore events as directed
  • Must be a Northshore Member or pursue membership
  • Execute other duties as assigned


  • Immediate Supervisor:  Director of Ministry
  • Supervises (staff/volunteers):  Group Leaders and Coaches (volunteers), Compassion Fund Coordinator (staff)
  • Partners with:  Ministry Team, Communications Team, Teaching Pastors, Pastors, Directors, and Ministry Support Staff
