Job Description

The Communications Manager helps the Northshore Communications Department be successful through effective project management, scheduling and coordinating communication and project requests as well as capturing and telling stories of what God is doing through our church in partnership with the Director of Communications.


  • Communications Leader – Help create and implement strategic communication plans, to support organizational and departmental goals. Provide content support for key communication channels and act as a key content advisor that assures content follows professional standards, church standards and brand execution requirements. Network with industry professionals and influencers; stay up to date with new technologies and best practices, regularly sharing new information and ideas with ministry teams.
  • Project and Event Management – Manage strategy, content, and logistics for project and event requests by utilizing project management skills and software. Attend scrum and project meetings.
  • Storyteller – Cultivate and share stories that support organizational goals, inspire people, and generate action. Manage the end-to-end storytelling process and publishing.
  • Connector – Be an amazing collaborator – build strong relationships across multiple departments and stakeholders. Leverage your skills to inform communications planning and enable departments to be successful in their communications efforts.
  • Metrics – Monitor metrics and user engagement and suggest content optimization for digital platforms. Monitor and evaluate the success of social media campaigns and provide regular reports to key stakeholders. Evaluate procedures and events and provide creative and practical suggestions for improvement.

Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a communication-related role and a proven track record of strategic thinking that results in meeting department and organization goals.
  • Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ.
  • Be a Northshore Member or pursue membership (if not already).
  • Understand and be able to champion Northshore’s mission and vision.
  • Excellent people/relational skills.
  • Strong organizational skills; thrives at creating clarity through an organized, methodical, repeatable approach to project management with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects at once.


  • Creative thinker who can develop impactful and memorable communications for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to simplify messaging into understandable narratives, across multiple communication channels.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ensures accuracy in all communications deliverables
  • Ability to work effectively across departments, drive successful communication plans and contribute to the success of others.Familiar with Mailchimp, WordPress, Google Analytics, Facebook/Instagram Ads & Content Studio, YouTube, and Vimeo.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Premier, After Effects).
