Baptism is a powerful public expression of one’s faith in Jesus Christ. Before one is baptized, it is important to understand there is one prerequisite: you must put your trust and faith in what Jesus did for you on the Cross—it is a visible symbol of an invisible commitment, an outward expression of an inward decision. The actual act of baptism is unlike anything else as it identifies us with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. One goes under the water symbolizing a watery grave and comes up out of the water clean and new, symbolizing new life in Christ.
God has designed this as a way for us, His children, to be recognized on earth as belonging to Him. In Matthew 3, Jesus’ baptism is recorded as a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, who I love; with Him I am well-pleased.’
God requires those who have put their faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, to be baptized. It is a command for all believers. We find these instructions in Acts 2:37-38 and Matthew 28:19; “Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”

One of the most powerful aspects of baptism at Northshore is the video testimony shown right before your baptism. The video allows you to share how Jesus Christ has been working in your life. As a public profession, it is an incredible opportunity to share God’s message of redemption with thousands of people. We have witnessed the life-changing effect these videos have had on people’s lives.
Another important reason we do a video is that we, as a congregation, grow in our faith by hearing stories of new life in Jesus. It allows friends, family, and even those you don’t know to celebrate the amazing transformation God has worked in your life.
We want baptism to be a meaningful and enjoyable experience, and we look forward to walking through it with you! If you have any questions or need help preparing your testimony, contact us.
