Get Baptized

We believe that baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Baptism is a powerful public expression of one’s faith in Jesus Christ. Before one is baptized, it is important to understand there is one prerequisite: you must put your trust and faith in what Jesus did for you on the Cross—it is a visible symbol of an invisible commitment, an outward expression of an inward decision. The actual act of baptism is unlike anything else as it identifies us with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. One goes under the water symbolizing a watery grave and comes up out of the water clean and new, symbolizing new life in Christ.

Baptism Process

1. Understanding Baptism

God has designed this as a way for us, His children, to be recognized on earth as belonging to Him. In Matthew 3, Jesus’ baptism is recorded as a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, who I love; with Him I am well-pleased.’

God requires those who have put their faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, to be baptized. It is a command for all believers. We find these instructions in Acts 2:37-38 and Matthew 28:19; “Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”

2. Baptism Request

If you’re ready to take the next step, fill out the baptism Request and you’ll be contacted for the next step on getting baptized!

3. Write Your Story

God has given you a life-changing message. This message is uniquely yours and tells about the powerful work God has done in your life. We would like you to write out your story and have it ready for Step #4, Making Your Video. The following questions are to help you write your life-changing message:

  • What did your life look like before you met Jesus?
  • What was the turning point for you?
  • Who are the people or who was the person that helped you meet Jesus Christ?
  • What role has Northshore played in you meeting Jesus?
  • Clearly state a public profession of faith (e.g., “I want to make it known that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior).
  • What is your life like now? Did Jesus bring about any changes?
  • Share with us why you would like to be baptized.

4. Making Your Video

One of the most powerful aspects of baptism at Northshore is the video testimony shown right before your baptism. The video allows you to share how Jesus Christ has been working in your life. As a public profession, it is an incredible opportunity to share God’s message of redemption with thousands of people. We have witnessed the life-changing effect these videos have had on people’s lives.

Another important reason we do a video is that we, as a congregation, grow in our faith by hearing stories of new life in Jesus. It allows friends, family, and even those you don’t know to celebrate the amazing transformation God has worked in your life.
